ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
Mathematics is all around us and helps us understand the world better. Mathematics is not study about numbers,
equations, computationns of algorithms: it is about UNDERSTANDING. Mathematics helps us think analytically,
better reasoning abilities and problem solving skills. Department of Mathematics was established in the year
1991 as a part of the Vidyasagar College of Arts and Science which is located in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district
and affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. The department offers undergraduate course B.Sc
Mathematics (2010) and postgraduate course M.sc Mathematics (2015). It is elevated to full- fledged research
department with the introduction of M.Phil and Ph.D programs in 2017.
